...Is actually the title of a sermon I gave a little over a year ago...Today, it represents the end of the quarter at school and the beginning of something that I have missed doing: blogging.
Some of you may remember reading the "WWE Life and Raw Reviews" I would write weekly. In the midst of writing papers for school, you just don't have time for that anymore. Now with a break in the quarter, let's give this a go...Instead of asking, "Why?" ask, "Why not?" :)
On my Facebook page this morning, I said I might write a blog about the adventure I had at school today...I'll keep this short and sweet as our "trial / pilot episode." I had a HUGE Greek Exegesis paper due at 8am this morning, Central Standard Time...Any "free time" I had in the last week and a half has been dedicated to this paper. After 30 pages, I printed my paper, finished at 3:30am this morning...I think I drank coffee ALL day yesterday...
Then, I went to bed for a couple of hours...I wanted to leave the house by 6am, to make sure I made it on time to drop it off. I was VERY careful driving, considering roads are still not the best from Saturday's blizzard.
I made it to school by 6:40am...I parked in the 30-min. parking spot...I noticed that the steps and sidewalks were still full of snow...That's odd, I thought...Thankfully, I had boots on...I trudged through the snow...
...Only to find that the school was locked! Uh oh, now what? I thought. I noticed a sign that said the building would be open at 7am. 20 min...Since windchills are below zero, it was time to trudge back through the snow, so I could wait in my car! :)
Man, my feet were COLD...Thankfully, the car hadn't cooled down that much...Shortly thereafter, I noticed a car pull around the building...Maybe they came to unlock the building?
I didn't realize just how far around the building the car had parked, thanks to the amazon-snow piles...I ended up walking halfway around the building...To find that the doors were still locked where the car was parked...Pounding on doors was to no avail...
...So, back to the car I went...I felt like a popsicle left out of the box in a big deep freeze...The heat in the Mustang worked, thankfully, yet again. :) Then, the car pulls out...I start waving, but either they didn't see me or they wanted to ignore me...Hey, I wasn't THAT scary-looking in my pink workout pants, purple sweater, and black hat! Although, I may have looked like a zombie with no sleep...
7am rolled around...And went. I trudged through the snow again about 5-10 minutes after 7am...The doors were STILL locked?!?!? What am I going to do???
I trudge back in the snow and the cold to the Mustang...Maybe there's someone in the security guard building, I thought...I drive to the other side of campus...Nope. U-turn...
I try another building not far away...The doors were open but no one to talk to...A-HA! A phone number for campus security! I call...No guards on campus? But there's one officer, so I can wait on the line to talk to him...
He answers, and I share my sob story, about how I need to turn this paper in by 8am, and there's no one at the building...He said I would have to wait. Been there, done that...I suggest that maybe someone could escort me in, so I could deliver the paper, making sure it's on-time? He said that would be okay...He said to give him a call when I got back to that side of campus, and he would drive over.
I drive to the other side of campus...There's 2 men outside shoveling! I get out of the car as fast as I can and ask them if the building is open. YES! I go in...
...And find that the office I need to drop the paper off at is locked off. A-ha! Faculty mailbox! I go to the mail center...There it is! I get the paper out of my hands by 7:30am...Time to go home and get some sleep! :)
Here's hoping for a good enough grade that I don't need to take the class again... ;) This has been the hardest class in seminary so far...
Thank you, God, for being with me and reminding me that everything works out. :)
I just realized I never called the guard back...Oops...I hope he knows that I got in after all. :)
The moral of the story? Wear warm clothes...Make sure your gas tank is full...And remember that this, too, shall pass... :)
Can someone pass the HOT coffee, please? :)
Yay I am so glad you got your paper in on time! That is quite the story! Also glad that you started blogging again!!! Love Katy
